"There are two possible outcomes: if the result confirms the hypothesis, then you've made a measurement. If the result is contrary to the hypothesis, then you've made a discovery."

- Enrico Fermi

In modern context there is a schism that Church and State is akin to that of Science and Religion. The Schism exists between God & Math. The Schism is not necessarily so if one can adopt new perspective and alter their views to include the edict - God speaks to us through Mathematics

Afterall... this is indeed the position of many-a-vatican scientiests. Perhaps the most famous of vatican scientiests - one Georges Lemaitre

.... Don't know him?

Oh, he mearly postulated the this thing happened:

- It is... not apanthetical and necessary to seperate God from Science and Mathematics

Therefore, when charged to design a Light Oriented structure - in the Heart of the SUNY Farmingdale Campus that acts as a non-denominational temple, with 3 Chambers - one to address the times of old, the current and the new (future) - if you consider the engineering realm the school has adopted, it seems like the marriage between the Architecture to the mathematics and religion are a match made in.... SUNY Farmingdale

Site Location

One time planned focal point - with emphasis on "Focal" point The Oculus is a fair location to set our new structure. Afterall, it is also in view of the religion of others - namely business, and their new business center. More to the point - it is safe to assume that students who take residence on the campus will be in need of a place of worship more than those commuting. As such, it is on their circulation path and admittedly out of the way for those commuting and not as in need.

Religion and Numbers

.... the Curve, is at the core of the design... for it is the sequence of God (in Christian/Judeo faith)

A few other figures to keep in mind with my project

12 - Quite biblical - therefore our column grid is set at 12'x12' - for if this is the basis of structure, than this is a suitable basis for the foundation by which we lift our pillars of faith

Fetch me the spirit, the son and the father. Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended.

- Maynard James Keenan - Lyrics to the Song 10,000 days by his band Tool

about his deceased mother who lived 27 years - or some 10,000 days after an embolism

saddled her to a wheelchair

Other numbers - 3 - the number of temples and the holy trinity

The Golden Ratio - the overall sub-division (wood built-up wall and external path) and building share this Ratio - again we see 12 in the cubicle/counciling chambers on the first floor.
